“ Doing nothing and expecting a better result is insanity”
I had an interesting conversation the other day with a business owner (not a client of ours, mind you) who’s been in the game for many years. He was a seasoned professional, but I have to say—he was also one of the grumpiest blokes I’ve met in a while.
He’s been running his business in a tough industry, and like many of us, he’s feeling the pressure of a quiet economy. Interest rates are starting to pinch, and consumers are becoming more cautious with their spending. On top of that, he’s having trouble finding good workers. It’s no surprise he’s tired and frustrated. But here’s where things got stuck. As I tried to suggest a few simple ways he could make things better for himself, he shut down. He was full of excuses and complaints, and no matter what solutions I offered, he wasn’t interested. In fact, he told me outright, “I’m not a man of change.”
That hit me. I see it too often—the resistance to change. And it’s a mindset that holds back so many business owners.
Let me tell you this: if you’re not open to change, if you resist trying new approaches or stepping out of your comfort zone, then nothing is going to change in your business. The truth is, the world is moving fast, and businesses that don’t adapt will be left behind. Whether it’s updating processes, embracing new technology, improving customer engagement, or rethinking how you manage your team, change is not optional, it’s necessary.
At Henson Lloyd Accountants, we’re here to support you as you navigate these challenging times. Our goal is to provide you with the insights and strategies to not only survive but thrive in this evolving business landscape. Whether you need help with financial management, business planning, or even just a fresh perspective, we’re ready to assist.
So here’s my message to all of you:
Be open to change. Take small steps if you have to, but start somewhere. You might be surprised by how much improvement is possible when you embrace new ways of thinking. If you want to explore new ideas or strategies for your business, reach out to us. We’re here to help you make that change.
Kind Regards,
