Centrelink COVID-19 Disaster Payment

The State Government and the Federal Government will both provide disaster payments, to ensure workers stood down or have reduced working hours in metropolitan and regional South Australia may receive up to $600 if they are eligible.

If we remain locked down for the expected 7 days, certain individuals will be able to receive a COVID-19 Disaster Payment through Centrelink if you have lost more than 8 hours of work as a result of the lockdown and have been exposed to, lived in or restricted from working in any deemed COVID hotspot.

Payments are made depending on the hours of work lost, if between 8-20 hours of work has been foregone a payment of $375 will apply, if more than 20 hours of work has been lost as a result the payment will increase to $600. This payment will continue each week that we are in lockdown, if the period extends further than the expected seven days.

The payments will be paid in arrears for the lockdown and anyone affected can apply through myGov from Wednesday 28th July 2021, once the expected lockdown has ended. For more information and how to claim, visit the Services Australia website: Services Australia – COVID-19 Disaster Payment

Additionally, if you are directed to quarantine for 14 days by health officials you are eligible to receive a $1,500 Centrelink payment.
